(2025) Import Tariffs into Canada on Certain Key and Potential Vietnamese Goods (according to the CPTPP)

On January 1, 2025, Canada announced the 2025 Customs Tariff Schedule, providing guidance for businesses and customs authorities to determine the applicable tariff rate for a specific type of goods prior to importing them into Canada.

Being members of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (“CPTPP“) with Canada offers Vietnam, as well as other CPTPP member countries (Mexico, Peru, Chile, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, and the United Kingdom), certain tariff preferences when exporting goods to the Canadian market.

Thanks to the commitments under the CPTPP, goods from Vietnam may enjoy preferential tariff rates compared to goods originating from countries that do not have a free trade agreement with Canada. This is a significant competitive advantage, facilitating Vietnamese businesses in expanding their market share and gaining deeper access to the North American market.

Accordingly, NexusNovum provides our valued Clients with a Summary Table of customs tariff rates applicable to certain key and potential Vietnamese products that are currently imported or have the potential to be imported into the Canadian market (“Summary Table“).
